The Galaxy S6 was already one of the very
best smartphones released in 2015—and now a new version of the phone is
adding more features. Samsung has released what they call the Galaxy S6
Active, a new smartphone that is similar to the original S6, but with a
few really nice additions.
The first big addition is extended battery life. The S6 Active has a massive 3,500 mAh battery, compared to the 2,500 mAh battery that was in the S6. That should give you a good three or four hours of more screen time, regardless of what you are doing with your phone.
The second big feature is that the S6 Active is completely waterproof. 2014’s Galaxy S5 had this waterproof feature, but it was taken away in the Galaxy S6. Now Samsung has brought the feature back in the S6 Active so that you can check your Instagram while you’re in the shower.
These two features are great, but they do come at a cost. The S6 Active is big and bulky, unlike the thin, modern design of the S6. The S6 Active is made completely of plastic, whereas the S6 was made of sleek glass and metal. In fact, this thing essentially has a built-in case around it, for extra durability. Even still, for some people, the S6 Active is exactly what they want in a phone—something that can match their active lifestyle.
The Galaxy S6 is currently available only in the United States and only through AT&T for $199 with a two-year contract.
