Tech
giant Apple Inc. is reportedly gearing up to release its new iPhone
with a larger initial production than previous models, iPhone 6 and
iPhone 6 Plus. 90 million units of the new 2015 iPhone model will be
shipped this year, iDigital Times reported on Wednesday.
iDigital Times said that Apple's
upcoming smartphone is expected to be launched in September. The rumored
Apple device will have two versions, one with a 4.7-inch screen and one
with 5.5-inch display, which are similar to the smartphones released in
2014.
However,
the report noted that as of the time being, it is still vague if
Apple's upcoming device will use the name "iPhone 7" or "iPhone 6s."
What is clear though is that Apple wants to surpass the success it had
with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The report disclosed that the company
actually shipped between 70 million to 80 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
units during its initial production.
Meanwhile, a report from Macrumors pointed
out that Apple's upcoming iPhone will likely be called "iPhone 6s" and
"iPhone 6s Plus." The said devices will feature Apple's Force Touch
technology which can reportedly distinguish a light tap from a deep
press. The phones will also have new color option, which is said to be
either rose gold or pink. The report hinted that Foxconn and Pegatron
will serve as the main suppliers for Apple's upcoming smartphone.
Aside from these, the rumored Apple
iPhone is said to be powered by Apple's A9 processor with a 2 GB of
random access memory (RAM) and an improved Qualcomm LTE chip. It will
also reportedly sport a 12 MP rear camera. However, all these remain to
be rumors unless Apple finally makes an official announcement.
